Welcome to Our College

St.Teresa’s College is managed by ST.TERESA’S MONASTERY, KOTTAKKAL-MALA of CMI Fathers ( under St. Teresas Educational & Charitable Trust, Kottakkal Mala) -a house of Devamatha Province of Carmelites of Mary Immaculate ( CMI) an indigenous, religious congregation founded in 1831 by Bl. Cyriac Elias Chavara a saintly priest and versatile genius, who envisioned education as a tool for liberation and development.

This college started as a parallel educational institution in 1975. It has been functioning very competently and effectively as a parallel institution but with every facility of an affiliated college. With the earnest efforts of management and the staff , the institution could achieve meritorious results with students bringing high laurels academically. We have been putting in continuous efforts to obtain sanction from the university and the government for affiliation. We are now greatly pleased that finally we could fulfill our dream by obtaining approval from the university to function the institution as a self financing college, affiliated to the University Of Calicut, from academic year 2013.

This year St.Teresa’s College Kottakkal, Mala is having B.com (Finance and Co-operation) and BBA (Finance) Degree programmes. We hope to extend the curriculum to other degree courses too, in near future.

In reverence to the profound and noble vision of Bl. Cyriac Elias Kuriakose Chavara , C.M.I . Congregation is pledged to put in sustained efforts to provide education, particularly to the needy and deserving students. With this aim in our mind we have been dreaming about a full fledged college for providing higher education to the students in this area which lack a co-educational college with in 10 kilometers. I am immensely pleased that our most cherished dream is getting fulfilled. From academic year 2013, the institution is being affiliated to the Calicut University. St. Teresa’s Arts and Science College with B.com and BBA courses now, will grow I am sure with new courses in future.

Whether the word Education is derived from Latin words “ Educare” , it simply denotes “ to bring “ , and “ to lead forth “ . This has been amplified in Rigveda that “ Education is something which makes a man self reliant and selfless “ . To Aristotle “ Education is the creation of a sound mind in a sound body “
